VYB 5 - National experience: learning about practice, safeguarding young babies.
This session will explore national learning from safeguarding reviews involving babies and very young children, highlighting key themes for practice and partnership working.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Understand the national picture of abuse and neglect through Rapid Reviews and safeguarding practice reviews affecting young babies.
- Recognise the importance of effective multi-agency collaboration from the pre-birth period through to early infancy.
- Apply a Think Family and trauma-informed approach when assessing parental capacity and understanding the lived experiences of babies and their families.
- Understand the intersection of poverty, adversity, and abuse, and how these factors can increase vulnerability for babies and their caregivers.
- Reflect on how learning from reviews can strengthen professional curiosity, risk assessment, and safeguarding practice.
